Washington DC Passes Community Renewable Energy Act of 2013

In July 2013, the Council of the District of Columbia passed legislation that will make the District one of the top community solar markets in the country.  The legislation will enable apartment dwellers, homeowners with poor solar access, and others to purchase solar electricity from arrays located elsewhere.  Traditionally these market segments have been unable to benefit from solar energy systems.

You can learn more about the bill here, and download a full copy of the bill here.

Kenergy Solar has worked with MDV-SEIA and DC SUN to help develop this legislation and we will continue to be actively involved as the regulations are finalized.  Kenergy Solar will continue to work with Pepco and the DC Public Service Commission to ensure that Community Solar functions efficiently for the ratepayers and can deliver the promised results to solar consumers.

Kenergy Solar is working with building owners, developers, and interested customers to design effective solutions that can be smoothly implemented in 2014. We are currently preparing sites, soliciting names of interested consumers, and helping developers bring community solar to their sites.
