Today's article in the NYT surveys the global implications of diminishing renewable energy prices and the necessity for decreasing fossil fuel subsidies. 

The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate found that the decrease in renewable energy prices now makes renewable energy cost competitive with fossil fuel energy, but highlights the political challenges facing the renewable industry.   It highlights the fact that many special interest groups around the world still have a hand in government fossil fuel subsidies.  Fossil fuels still receive six times the subsidies of renewables in the US.
